Again some foods are bad. Fibrous foods act as tooth and gum cleaners or detergents. These help in the secretion of saliva, which builds natural resistance against cavities. Wheat, corn, bean seeds these grains contain fiber as well as magnesium, which protects the enamel. A variety of fruits, such as oranges, grapefruits, and pineapples also contain vitamins C, D, and calcium, which are good for teeth. Eating apples increases saliva secretion, without which tooth stains are removed. However, after eating sour and acidic fruits, you have to cool them well.

Cheese, milk, yogurt and dairy foods are good for the bones of the teeth. It contains phosphorus and calcium, which are important minerals for teeth. Chewing sugar-free chewing gum produces a lot of saliva and helps to get rid of food particles and bacteria trapped in the gaps between the teeth. The role of fluoride in dental health is also undeniable. You need to drink plenty of water to keep your teeth healthy. This water keeps the gums moist, removes trapped food particles and prevents enamel corrosion.

Which are harmful

■ Gummy and sugary sweets, candies, pastries, cakes, breads and crispy and brittle foods like biscuits, chips etc. get stuck in the gaps between the teeth.

■ After eating dates and raisins, if it sticks to the teeth, it can cause bacterial infection. Acidic acid also damages enamel. After taking such food, you have to cool it well.

Carbonated soft drinks are high in sugar, phosphoric acid and citric acid. These are harmful to enamel.

What to do

* Eat sweet food with other foods. Eating other foods first will cause saliva to be excreted, which will alleviate some of the damage.

 Use brush twice and floss once a day.

Brush after taking sweet and sticky food. Cool after drinking fruit or fruit juice.
